Charcoal Wet Room, Wandsworth

Location
Wandsworth
Property type
Victorian terrace
Scope
Loft-level wet room in concrete-effect porcelain with a walk-in shower

About this project

A wet room at loft level in a Victorian terrace, tiled wall and floor in charcoal concrete-effect porcelain. A room at the top of the house has to be watertight in a way a ground-floor bathroom does not — everything below it is the rest of the home — so the whole floor is tanked and falls are formed to the drain before any tile is laid.

Above that waterproofing the room is deliberately plain: one tile everywhere, a matt black vanity, a backlit round mirror, and a glass screen instead of a tray and door so the floor reads as continuous.

Key details

  • Concrete-effect porcelain to walls and floor
  • Walk-in shower behind a fixed glass screen
  • Fully tanked floor with falls formed to the drain
  • Backlit round mirror over a matt black wall-hung vanity
  • Extraction and zoned electrics to regulation, certified at handover
