About this project
A principal bedroom treated as joinery rather than decoration. Concrete-effect panels run the full width of the bed wall, divided by shadow-gap grooves and washed by a cove light above; beneath them a band of fluted dark veneer carries the headboard and continues past it into wall-hung bedside consoles, so nothing in the room stands on the floor except the bed itself.
The same two materials set out the rest of the room. The fluted panelling frames the artwork wall and returns behind the television, where a warm oak veneer panel and a grey floating media unit break the grey palette in one place only. Lighting is concealed throughout — the cove above the panels, a strip behind the headboard, black track spots on the ceiling — so what you see is surface and shadow rather than fittings.
